For cleaning sprays in health clubs, we feel that a “quat” based disinfectant, combined with a good cleaner is the best option. Quat is short for quaternary ammonium compound, a type of salt. These salts are known to be gentle on people & material, but lethal to germs such as MRSA, H1N1 Swine Flu and TB.

A really good sanitiser will have more than one quat, since pathogens can become resistant to a particular disinfectant. Therefore, a judicious cocktail of different quats, thoughtfully pre-mixed by the manufacturer, ensures a greater kill rate and shortens the kill time.
Dispense the combined cleaner/sanitiser with a commercial grade sprayer and let sit for the prescribed amount of germ-kill time. Next, thoroughly wash off the residue. The result will be a clean & disinfected area that your clients will love. The above procedure is also quick and thorough, meaning your staff is more likely to follow procedure.
If you really want a go the extra mile, follow up by spraying a quat sanitiser (without cleaner) that can be left on, meaning does not need to be wiped off. Remember, you had just washed away the gunk, along with the beneficial sanitiser. With the second spraying of sanitiser on its own, your equipment will continue to benefit from the sanitiser, long after the disinfecting procedure. This double procedure may be only necessary in saunas, since saunas are porous and hence tougher to disinfect, perhaps than any other club area. By the way, this method also applies to showers and just about any other area of your health club.
